Republicans Denying Troops Smut
Republicans are looking to deny our troops Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, FHM, Maxim...
Claiming it is the cause of increases of sexual assaults in the military, U.S. Rep. Paul Broun (Republican-GA), has introduced legislation that would prevent the sale of some sexually explicit material on military bases by lowering the threshold required to deem material "sexually explicit."
Broun, a Marine veteran, told Newsweek recently that the magazines sold in military exchanges are partly responsible for a rise in sexual assaults in the military and other problems.
"Allowing the sale of pornography on military bases has harmed military men and women by: escalating the number of violent, sexual crimes; feeding a base addiction; eroding the family as the primary building block of society; and denigrating the moral standing of our troops both here and abroad," Broun says on his Web site.
Of course, the more obvious approach would be to look at the lowering of recruiting standards that now allow criminals into our military:
...the Baltimore Sun wrote that there was "a significant increase in the number of recruits with what the Army terms 'serious criminal misconduct' in their background" -- a category that included "aggravated assault, robbery, vehicular manslaughter, receiving stolen property and making terrorist threats." From 2004 to 2005, the number of those recruits rose by more than 54 percent, while alcohol and illegal drug waivers, reversing a four-year decline, increased by more than 13 percent.
In June, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that, under pressure to fill the ranks, the Army had been allowing into its ranks increasing numbers of "recruits convicted of misdemeanor crimes, according to experts and military records." In fact, as the military's own data indicated, "the percentage of recruits entering the Army with waivers for misdemeanors and medical problems has more than doubled since 2001."
Nah. Couldn't be that. Must be the Playboys.
Wow, what a great idea. Take away thier porn and they will be a more mild mannered killing machine. But they might still rape and kill on their off time too.

I guess the free market only applies to Bibles. Actually, there's some hardcore stuff in the Bible, too, right? Guess that should be removed as well.
