Conservatives tend to scare more easily than liberals.
This explains all that right wing fearmongering and the shrill, near-hysteric tone conservatives sometimes get that makes the rest of us in the rational world scratch our heads and say, "Really? You're that scared about something?"
Have you noticed as we move closer to the election, and closer to a Democrat moving in to the White House, their fear is at a rolling boil?
The results, which are published in the journal Science, revealed significant differences in both responses, which corresponded with people’s political views. Those with “markedly lower physical sensitivity to sudden noises and threatening visual images” tended to support liberal positions, while those with strong responses tended to be more conservative.
This would fit with the hypothesis that people who have more fearful responses to perceived threats are more likely to be conservative, while those who have weaker responses develop more liberal views.
I bet this study scares them too. Quick, better trash the Constitution just to be safe!
Pussies.
Yeah this seems kind of obvious in a way - typical "badass" bullies overcompensating for their own fearfulness. But that last phrase in the quote here is a gift to those folks. I wouldn't call it a "weaker response" to a "perceived threat", more like a better ability to determine what is and is not a threat. As opposed to "reactionary."
