1. Noel Freibert, Silkscreen.
I like the use minimal color contrasted with extravagant line quality and type. Totally awesomely, gross!
2. Alex Fine, Digital
The sense of humor in this poster contrasts greatly with my idea of Daniel Johnston's music, but I think it's graphically successful and conceptually relevant with political overtones. Alex's iconic illustrative style is always eye-catching.
3. Scott Dennison, Silkscreen
This poster is all about the process. It's obvious that Scott had fun making it, as I saw many different color renditions of the same image. I also like how he used the type as a negative image. Playful and layer-based...smart design!
4. Scott Dennison, Silkscreen
The colors are the most important aspect of this poster. The silver, navy, and hot orange pop out so you can't miss it. Classic.
5. Kathy Fahey, Digital/ Silkscreen
Kathy used an interesting technique for this poster. She utilized type and image from three pre-existing posters by Scott Dennison, herself, and me. She cut up and combined aspects of the three to make a fun menagerie and collection (much like the Paper Kingdom book itself!). The poster also represents one of my favorite shows ever!
6. Bob O'Brien, Photocopy
This poster is fun because it is simple and easy to read. The hierarchy of type is reversed..whereas normally the top line of information is the largest, Bob switched it up, making the lower part of the image bottom-heavy to tie in to the top of the image. Each poster placed around Baltimore was individually colored by Adam Endres.
7. Lesser Gonzalez, Digital Print
Not only does this poster represent an incredible three days of non-stop, mostly local, totally fresh music, it's so much fun! Lesser's intricate braid type laced with photographs from magazines is full of humor and surprises. It's all tied together with his application of the braids in the figure as well.
8. Justin Lucas, Silkscreen
This poster is very simple and classy. The rope that is being held by the hands mimics the shape of the turtle shell. Justin 's type is understated in it's simplicity..nothing short of lovely.
9. Post Typograhy, Silkscreen
Both of these were designed by Post Typography. The background images of eyes and feet were drawn by various participants in the Round Robin tour representing the set up of the shows..."Eyes" night and "Feet" night.
