This is what passes for legitimate political discourse and insight on FOX News.
On the Glenn Beck show last night, his guest Michael Scheuer reveals that conservatives really are hoping for another terrorist attack.
SCHEUER: The only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States. Because it's going to take a grass-roots, bottom-up pressure. Because these politicians prize their office, prize the praise of the media and the Europeans. It's an absurd situation again. Only Osama can execute an attack which will force Americans to demand that their government protect them effectively, consistently, and with as much violence as necessary.
BECK: Which is why, I was thinking this weekend, if I were him, that would be the last thing I would do right now.
There you have it. Conservatives on FOX News hate Obama so much, they are actively hoping for bin Laden to kill more Americans.
Source.
So, we have to have an attack so that we can defend ourselves against further attacks, rather than not being attacked, in which case we wouldn't need to defend ourselves. I'm having trouble with this circular idiocy or jerking, if you will.
We haven't been attacked (arguable), which was supposedly due to Bush's good policies. Under Obama, apparently this is not the case. I guess it's the grace of god that's kept us from attack (although, we all know from right-wing nuts that god hates the USA, although he also blesses it, so who knows?). But, to prevent us from being attacked, we need to be attacked, which would mean we hadn't prevented ourselves from attack.
This is painful.
Maybe this attack that FOX and their like crave should come in the form of an attack on a right-wing cable "news" network. That would really get "real" Americans up in arms.

Osama hasn't attacked yet, because he's letting America get weak! Yes, it's not that Obama is effective or anything, it's really because Obama is a secret Muslim or something like that. Sheesh. I've seen stupid, and I've seen shameless, but, sad to say for something like the last 10 years or so the GOP has become shamelessly stupid, AND stupidly shameless. We, as a democracy need two sane political parties.

Jon Stewart had this clip on last night and the talking head who made this remark looked suspiciously like Beck. I guess Beck is doing a variety skit show now.
