GodWatch: When Christians Pray For The Death Of A President

Meet Pastor Wiley Drake of the Buena Park Southern Baptist Church. Know what he's been doing lately? He's been praying for god to kill the President of the United States.

On Alan Colmes' syndicated talk show, Drake revealed his homicidal prayer scheme.

DRAKE: Imprecatory prayer is agreeing with God, and if people don't like that, they need to talk to God. God said it, I didn't. I was just agreeing with God.

He was then asked if there are other targets of his "imprecatory prayer", and he hesitated before admitting there were.

DRAKE: The usurper that is in the White House is one, B. Hussein Obama.

Later, Colmes clarified what he was hearing.

COLMES: Are you praying for his death?

DRAKE: Yes.

COLMES: So you're praying for the death of the president of the United States?

DRAKE: Yes.

Colmes then asked if he really believed that type of prayer was appropriate and if he was concerned that this might result in his name on a Secret Service watch list.

DRAKE: I think it's appropriate to pray the Word of God. I'm not saying anything. What I am doing is repeating what God is saying, and if that puts me on somebody's list, then I'll just have to be on their list."

COLMES: You would like for the president of the United States to die?

DRAKE: If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around, I am asking God to enforce imprecatory prayers that are throughout the Scripture that would cause him death, that's correct.

How very christ-like.

Christians, be Christians (I'll even throw you a bone by capitalizing it) if you want. Religious people be religious. I don't like it, but it is what it is. But, for the love of your god(s), how can you stand to have people like this as your contemporaries?
