It's been 2 months since Examiner blogger Adam Meister first reported on documents that show that either Baltimore City Councilwoman Belinda Conaway does not live in the district she represents (or the city she claims to serve), or she is making false claims of residence for other property she owns for tax breaks.
Over that time, the only thing that has happened is that Councilwoman Conaway has filed a $21 million lawsuit against that reporter for his reporting.
Since then, the Shank has received numerous messages from readers asking what can be done about this situation. Because while it may seem like a cynical joke to some, for many of the residents of Baltimore city the rule that states that our representatives must live in the districts they represent makes a hell of a lot of sense. They want to make sure it's enforced. And they want to know what to do about this situation.
So, for those concerned, the Shank has provided a list of email contacts for you to send messages to, requesting an investigation of Baltimore City Council members who have a question of residence hanging over their heads.
If what she is saying is true, that she does live in her district and not out in the county, Ms. Conaway should welcome this investigation to clear her name once and for all.
Others have suggested Google-bombing Conaway. That means Google search the name Belinda Conaway, then click on the link to The Examiner's article "Belinda Conaway lives in Randallstown and Mary Conaway is" and/or The Mobtown Shank's post "Mobtown Shank: Belinda Conaway: A Question Of Residence".
What happens then, in theory, is similar to what happened to Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum who has a very embarrassing thing that comes in as the top search result for his name. Ms. Conaway's name will, at least through the election season, be tied to a question of residence when voters Google her name.
Regardless, if you are concerned, email the addresses below and ask them to please investigate this situation.
